The Nicoya Peninsula

Geography:
The southern Nicoya Peninsula is a jewel in itself. This part of Costa Rica is still quite unpopulated and offers extreme natural beauty. The beaches on the east side of the peninsula are more protected and stretch for many miles whereas the beaches on the other side of the tip, on the Pacific offer wonderful sunsets and a multitude of water sports activities like surfing.

This relatively small area hosts three natural park reserves, home to unique species of wildlife and a variety of plants. A naturalist's paradise!

Within a 50 km radius, visitors to Nicoya will find six different cities including Montezuma, Tambor, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Cobano and Cabuya each with a very different ambiance. All offer an unique and laid back life style with nature and warm friendly people as the common trait. There are many attractions including “Playa de los Artistas”, said to be one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica (New York Times).
